  Providing an affordable, developmental, and community-focused soccer experience for “true rec” teams, our league is built on the belief that every player deserves a place to play, grow, and enjoy the game in a positive environment. We are proud to offer an inclusive league—welcoming to all skill levels and backgrounds—where players are supported through fun, encouragement, and learning. Our focus is aspirational, emphasizing development over competition, and guided by the belief that character is just as important as skill.

 RYSDL was created to provide youth soccer teams in and around Frederick County, MD with a true recreational league option. What sets us apart from other area leagues is our passionate focus on uniting “true rec” teams—those seeking fun, competitive play against teams made up exclusively of recreational players. That means no tryouts or evaluations before forming teams, and no club players on rosters. With a commitment to 100% referee coverage by professional, MSYSA-sanctioned officials, we ensure a safe and fair playing experience. 

 RYSDL invites “true rec” teams to join our small-sided recreational soccer league for 2nd to 6th Grade players, based on school-year birthdates. A “true rec” team is not a travel team, club team, semi-club team, or any selective team formed through tryouts, player exclusion, or recruitment for team stacking. We welcome teams that are open to all youth interested in playing soccer, regardless of skill level. Competitive players and travel teams are not permitted to participate in this league. If your team does not meet these criteria, we’d be happy to recommend other leagues that may better suit your needs. 

 RYSDL is managed by volunteers from the LOUYAA Alliance Soccer Club. LOUYAA is a registered not-for-profit organization, operated almost entirely by volunteers, and could not exist without their dedication and selflessness. These volunteers generously give their time and energy to support RYSDL, ensuring that “true rec” teams have a welcoming and accessible place to play in our community.

As a non-profit organization, the LOUYAA Alliance Soccer Club uses all RYSDL league fees exclusively for RYSDL operations. LOUYAA does not profit from the league in any way.
