RECREATIONAL YOUTH SOCCER DEVELOPMENT LEAGUE is committed to our core mission:

Fall 2026 Overview & Application Criteria

Clubs are required to apply for membership in the Recreational Youth Soccer Development League.

Before applying, clubs must:

Established Recreational Program
Clubs must have an established recreational program, supported by documentation such as marketing materials and a website link that promotes their recreational offerings.

Proof of Insurance
Clubs must provide valid proof of organizational insurance coverage.

Proof of Not-for-Profit Status
Documentation of the organization’s not-for-profit status is required.

Home Field Availability
Clubs must provide proof of home field availability or formally request to use another club’s fields when completing the RYSDL application.

Director Interview
Once the league application and supporting documentation have been submitted, the club director or recreation director must participate in an online interview with the RYSDL League Directors.

Agreement to League Standards
If accepted into RYSDL, clubs must abide by the league’s definitions of recreational players and recreational teams.

A “true rec” team is not a travel team, club team, semi-club team, or any selective team formed through tryouts, player exclusion, or recruitment for team stacking. RYSDL welcomes teams that are open to all youth interested in playing soccer, regardless of skill level. Competitive players and travel teams are not permitted to participate in this league.

Fall 2026 Season Details

Season Dates: September 12– November 1, 2026
Game Days: Saturdays (Reschedule Makeup Games on Sundays)
Number of Games: 8 per team
Game Times:
- Saturdays: 9:00 AM – 7:00 PM
- Sundays: 11:00AM – 7:00 PM
Game Locations: Vary by home fields across Frederick, MD and surrounding areas
Cost: A flat team fee covers all league play costs, including referee fees

Team Registration & Playing Format

Team-Based Registration:
RYSDL admits teams only—not individual players. As such, teams are charged a flat fee per team, not per player.

• 1st / 2nd Grade (U8) Format: 5 v 5 Entry Fee: $265 Ball Size: 4

• 3rd / 4th Grade (U10) Format: 7 v 7 Entry Fee: $265 Ball Size: 4

Build-Out Lines: Required for U10 and below.
No Heading Rule: Applies to U8 through U10 divisions.
Referees: MSYSA-certified referees are assigned to all matches, with one (1) referee per game.
Scheduling: Block scheduling is available. Double-coach scheduling preferences are also offered to help avoid conflicts.

League Game Weekend Dates

Teams are guaranteed 7–8 matches. Scheduled match weekends are as follows:

Weekend 1: September 12-13, 2026
Weekend 2: September 19-20, 2026
Weekend 3: September 26-27, 2026
Weekend 4: October 3-4, 2026
Weekend 5: October 10-11, 2026
Weekend 6: October 17-18, 2026
Weekend 7: October 24-25, 2026
Weekend 8: October 31-November 01, 2026

Tournament Weekend: November 7th-8th, 2026 (Separate Application and additional fees required)

7–8 league matches per season
(Makeup games will be scheduled in the event of inclement weather and may require doubleheader weekends.)
